In Pakistan, regularization of contract employees has been a topic of discussion for quite some time. Contract employees are those who are hired by organizations or companies for a specific time period or project and are not given permanent employment. The main issue with this system is that contract employees do not enjoy the same rights and benefits as permanent employees, such as healthcare, pension, and job security.

The government of Pakistan has taken several steps to address this issue and has initiated various policies to regularize contract employees. In 2020, the government introduced the Regularization of Services Act, which aims to provide job security and other benefits to contract employees.

Under this act, contract employees who have completed a certain period of service are eligible to apply for regularization. Once they are regularized, they become permanent employees of the organization with all the benefits that come with it. The act also ensures that employers cannot terminate regularized employees without just cause and provides for the establishment of a complaint mechanism for employees who feel that their rights have been violated.

The regularization of contract employees is an important step towards ensuring that all workers are treated fairly and have access to the same benefits and protections. It not only benefits the employees but also helps organizations to create a stable and dedicated workforce, which can lead to improved productivity and profits.

However, there are still challenges to be faced in the implementation of this act. Some employers may be resistant to the idea of regularization as it may increase their costs and decrease their flexibility. There may also be issues related to the identification of eligible employees and the documentation required to regularize them.

Despite these challenges, the regularization of contract employees is a positive step towards improving the working conditions and rights of workers in Pakistan. The government and employers must work together to ensure that this act is implemented effectively and that all workers are treated fairly and with respect. This will not only benefit the employees but also contribute to the overall growth and development of the country`s economy.
